At <\/span>Canigo School of Barcelona<\/span><\/a> we celebrated the <\/span>STEAM Day <\/b>like every year; a day dedicated to<\/span> STEAM<\/span><\/a> (S<\/span>ciences, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics)<\/span>, in which logical<\/span> thinking and experimentation <\/b>was the base of it all. February is always a month closely linked to the STEAM areas because, in addition to the celebration of the<\/span> STEAM Day<\/b>, it coincides with the participation of the robotics teams in the <\/span>First Lego League<\/b> and <\/span>High School Biology Olympiads<\/b>.<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

This is how the Canig\u00f3 Kindergarten students celebrated STEAM Day<\/h3>\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t

During the <\/span>working day<\/b>, the little ones had the opportunity to do different activities in the <\/span>Scientific Workshop<\/span><\/a> and project of <\/span>Preschool<\/span><\/a> in which students perform <\/span>simple experiments<\/b> in which they observe, manipulate and play with <\/span>everyday objects <\/b>that awaken their <\/span>curiosity<\/b>. They, thus, develop a <\/span>taste for research and science<\/b> in a playful and experimental way: the \u201cmanufacturing\u201d of volcanoes in class, for example, was the experiment that the boys and girls of <\/span>Preschool<\/span><\/a> did on order to learn about how they work and how they erupt.<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

They also visited the Cosmocaixa and saw a part of the Amazon jungle in the <\/span>flooded forest<\/b>. They learned what land\u00a0 was like in <\/span>times of the dinosaurs thanks to life-size replicas and fossil remains <\/b>of large species of dinosaurs from Patagonia. They discovered some of the mysteries of the universe, the planets, the stars or the Solar System.<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

Science and experimentation in Primary\n<\/h3>\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

In <\/span>Primary<\/span><\/a>, each course carried out activities from various disciplines. In 5th and 6th grades they prepared a mathematical Gymkhana for 1st and 2nd grades. Other activities were related to the program <\/span>Walking into English<\/span><\/a>; a project that facilitates the acquisition of the English language through the contents of <\/span>Natural Sciences, Social Sciences and Artistic Expression.<\/b> This is how they learned to make<\/span> soap, create static electricity, design and build an electrical <\/b><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

Promoting STEAM areas in ESO and Baccalaureate<\/h3>\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

In <\/span>Secondary<\/span><\/a> and <\/span>Baccalaureate<\/span><\/a>, the different courses carried out mathematical and scientific activities. Just as if it was a game, they participated in<\/span> experimental <\/b>workshops<\/i><\/b> and attended to a <\/span>lecture series<\/b> on relevant current topics.<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

The doctor <\/span>Cristina Castellet, Canig\u00f3 Alumni of the promotion Landa<\/b>, offered the conference <\/span>\u201cFrom Canig\u00f3 to the operating room. Facing ethical dilemmas that represent a personal and professional challenge\u201d<\/span><\/i> to the groups of <\/span>Baccalaureate<\/span><\/a>. Graduate in Pharmacy (University of Barcelona); graduated in Medicine (Hospital Cl\u00ednic- University of Barcelona); specialist in Gynecology and Obstetrics from the Dexeus University Hospital; Cumlaude PhD, from the Autonomous University of Barcelona, \u200b\u200bis currently a gynecologist at the Sagrada Familia Clinic.<\/span><\/p>

In addition, the upper grades prepared mathematical gymkhana in which the 3rd and 4th graders participated and had fun. <\/span>As well as activities and experiments for students of <\/span>Preschool<\/span><\/a>.<\/span><\/p>

Laboratory work<\/span> favors and promotes the learning of STEAM skills <\/b>in an extraordinary way, proof of this was the <\/span>exhibition and demonstration<\/b> by a group of 1st graders of <\/span>ESO<\/span><\/a>, of the composition of various minerals that occur in nature observing the<\/span> color of the flame they cause when they light them up.<\/b><\/p>

All students have been able to enjoy a <\/span>fun and enriching day<\/b>, which has brought them closer to the world of science and where the little ones learn from the older ones.<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

The STEAM project at Canig\u00f3 School<\/h3>\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

All these activities are framed within the<\/span> STEAM innovation project<\/b>, developed by Fomento. This project brings together different learning methodologies that work on <\/span>logical thinking and experimentation<\/b>.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>
